You have opened this expecting a history. It is not a history. A history is a list of things that happened. This is a map of the things that could not un-happen, from the plague to the present.

The field has two registers. The bright points are ruptures — dated, authored, loud. Behind them stand twelve slow forces: continuous pressures with no dates and no authors, which decide which ruptures hold. The forces drive one another, and this iteration draws the edges.

A rupture unsupported by a force is a fashion. A force with no rupture is a pressure that has not yet found its crack. Where several of each arrive together, the century turns. Those are the confluences.

Two things the last iteration could not do. You may now remove a rupture from the record and watch what falls with it. And the instrument keeps a ledger of dated claims about the future, each with the observation that would prove it wrong. It can, at last, be wrong. Consult the Method for what it still cannot see.
